director biography

As an award winning narrative and commercial director/DP, Alexander has a unique gift for telling intimate and compelling stories. A signature approach and aesthetic has developed over the course of Alexander's short career as he prefers to work with a small footprint, keeping crew to essential roles only and operating his own camera in order to nurture a closeness with his actors and avoid external distractions amongst stolen and inhabited locations. Alexander's work has been featured in American Cinematographer, The Atlantic, Short of the Week and a variety of streaming platforms.

A word from director Alexander Hankoff

"I think as filmmakers we have a responsibility when portraying sensitive subject matter to treat the story with a tremendous amount of respect and integrity. My hope with "Missing" is that audience gains a deeper emotional understanding of what a missing person poster represents to the people closest to the individual who has disappeared."
